Live versus Repeat Sports Events

Post by byrnestom »

Does anyone know if it is possible to tell if a sporting event, like a college football game, is live versus a repeat. The XML produced by XMLTV does not appear to have any indication of this matter. I also looked at the dd.xml file and it does not appear to contain the information. Anyone have any success in determining this status for sporting events?

I don't think so... heck, they don't even mark sports as "New". It had to be hard coded in na_dd.

It's a very good question though.. I'll ask Tribune.

I've been seeing that here on hockey games on Versus. For example, last Monday's 7 pm ET game:

Code: Select all

  <programme start="20071126140000 -1000" stop="20071126163000 -1000" channel="I15952.labs.zap2it.com">
    <title lang="en">NHL Hockey</title>
    <sub-title lang="en">Buffalo Sabres at Washington Capitals</sub-title>
    <category lang="en">Sports event</category>
    <category lang="en">Hockey</category>
    <episode-num system="dd_progid">SP00194487.0000</episode-num>
  </programme>
...and the repeat at 5 pm ET on Tuesday:

Code: Select all

 <programme start="20071127120000 -1000" stop="20071127140000 -1000" channel="I15952.labs.zap2it.com">
    <title lang="en">NHL Hockey</title>
    <sub-title lang="en">Buffalo Sabres at Washington Capitals</sub-title>
    <category lang="en">Sports event</category>
    <category lang="en">Hockey</category>
    <episode-num system="dd_progid">SP00194487.0000</episode-num>
  </programme>
No difference in the listings, other than the times. I suppose I could start tracking episode numbers, but... :cry: -JW

FYi.. I'm talking to Tribune about this... Here are two good examples (in raw DD (not XMLTV) format)

Code: Select all

<schedule program='SP001945600000' station='54212' time='2007-12-04T00:00:00Z' duration='PT02H30M' hdtv='true'/>
<schedule program='SP001945600000' station='15952' time='2007-12-04T00:00:00Z' duration='PT02H30M'/>
<schedule program='SP001945600000' station='15952' time='2007-12-04T22:00:00Z' duration='PT02H00M'/>
<program id='SP001945600000'>
<title>NHL Hockey</title>
<subtitle>Dallas Stars at Columbus Blue Jackets</subtitle>
</program>
Notice That station 15952 has two showings.. 0000Z and 2200Z. The listings are identical. No original air date is given.

Here's another example (even worse)

Code: Select all

<schedule program='EP000041566270' station='15952' time='2007-12-01T20:30:00Z' duration='PT03H00M'/>
<schedule program='EP000041566270' station='54212' time='2007-12-01T23:00:00Z' duration='PT01H00M'/>
<program id='EP000041566270'>
<title>Tennis</title>
<subtitle>Davis Cup: Russia vs. United States</subtitle>
<description>From Portland, Ore.</description>
<series>EP00004156</series>
<syndicatedEpisodeNumber>12/01/07</syndicatedEpisodeNumber>
<originalAirDate>2007-12-01</originalAirDate>
</program>
Two stations are showing this Tennis match. One is three hours long another is just one hour. They have the same program-id.

Original Air date doesn't help.
Neither is flagged as sports or as new.
Is the one hour version a continuation? An overview? Does the first one simply have 3 hours of commercials?
Which is Live? (if any)

I'll let you guys know what I hear back. It's possible Tribune simply doesn't have the information.

Can some Moderator get rid of these pointless duplicate posts? They appear identically in other topic areas!
This forum member apparently doesn't understand the purpsoe of a forum. And I think his jokes aren't very good ,either. :cry:

Robert

Did we ever hear anything back from Tribune? Some way to differentiate would be very useful to me.

Thanks
