I have a branch of the grabber which uses sqlite for local storage, so you no longer need to install MySQL or MariaDB if you're not using a MythTV environment.
If you are using MythTV, then this avoids any use of MySQL for local storage of Schedules Direct content.
If you'd like to try the sqlite implementation, please do this:
git checkout API-20140530-sqlite
If you're on Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install sqlite3 php5-sqlite
Then run sd-utility.php
The script will see that you don't have a sqlite database and will create it for you.
