Re: Is 7 days long enough?

I look at a PVR to be 1/2 scheduling and 1/2 recording and storing. The scheduling side seems to have less issues than the recording mainly because because overhead comes into play. MythTV does recording well because of the Backend/Frontend approach as well as being Linux based. Scheduling is more o...

Re: Is 7 days long enough?

Have you actually tried it. I wouldn't have believed it before I did. You mentioned you looked at it but I am having a hard time believing that you actually setup and ran it. In my test it was not even close. Yes. In fact I didn't have a Linux host running at the time and had to setup the whole thi...

Re: Is 7 days long enough?

Are there other limits that I haven't encountered? Bob The Windows PVRs problems I have had are dropping of drivers requiring a reboot, Window freezes (common but cause not always known but they could avoid a lot of this if Windows used a backend-frontend approach), scheduled recordings not taking ...

Re: I'm sorry, Not gonna renew.

But there are still plenty of idiots here that just don't get it. If they got it they would be thankful that they didn't have to pay 10 times what they are through SD. Agreed. I pay $45/mo for cable and $16 for my daily paper. So $1.66/month for SD won't break the bank, especially since I no longer...

Re: Is 7 days long enough?

Windows is worthless as a digital TV recorder no matter what you use. :? Mighty bold talk. 8-) Some might consider it highly inflammatory and completely inaccurate. 10 days would allow users to fiddle around on two weekends. Bob I've been a Windows Admin since 1990, in my own PC Consulting business...

Re: I'm sorry, Not gonna renew.

Some people will complain in the forums here until they make SD free. Which of course will never happen unless someone offers to donate the yearly fee paid to TMS. So let's see if one of these people claiming to be against paying on principle has enough principle to offer to make this donation. Any ...

Re: Is 7 days long enough?

My myth setup was a big learning curve, I too felt like paying was taking a chance but it was so worth it! Now I can record anything, burn it to a DVD, stream it to any computer in my house, set up recording remotely. Also I am able to watch HD tv and Digital cable and use S-video out to my analog ...

Re: Top Apps Used

A service is a product even if it is a non-profit service. I think we should leave the business end of SD to them. They know more about it than we do. I've been a Accountant for a non-profit public radio network and I think everything SD is doing is very well thought through with the exception of th...

Re: I'm sorry, Not gonna renew.

Insert uninformed and insulting text here. If you don't want to pay such a small fee than don't. Be prepared to do manual recordings. Would you expect a non-profit excepting donations for research unreasonable also. Don't disrespect people who are donating their time to help people by saying they a...
