Re: New channels

Actually I requested that. I also should have been more clear as to the 1, 2, 3, 4 box thing being done after self hosting of the data which is what I had in mind. A don't list box would also be good. Also if someone wanted to do it the old way they could just not click any box and it could be done ...

Re: New channels

I have an idea that might work (at least in MythTV). Have one listing that would have four checkboxes after it numbered one to four (maybe more if possible). Then in the DVR software assign each of these numbers to a tuner or firewire port. Then the whole thing could be done from the Setup page on S...

Re: Windows PVR

Windows is ok for analog but for digital and multiple recordings Mythtv is the only way to go. I never could get a firewire primer to work right in windows. Plus the same HDTV card I use in MythTV only recorded when it felt like it in Windows. I know a lot of Windows users that call Linux a hobby OS...

Re: State of SD?

From a user-perspective it doesn't -sorry Slim- make much difference that I pay my subscription fee to a non-profit or a "real" business. On the other hand because a non-profit doesn't make a profit they have to be treated different. I do agree with the rest of your post though and the comments bel...

Re: In Response to the Newsletter

Your first post mrdonovan was way beyond constructive and into the realm of areas of non-profit that are only given to board members. At least all the ones I know of. I'm referring to comments like- "If the exec of SD insists on overcharging us" and "The financial information should be a lot more tr...

Re: In Response to the Newsletter

The SD board of directors should be the ones and the only ones to decide this. The complainers need to study how non-profits work. They are not told what to do by non board members. They could have done this and just not told anyone. I'm still sick of people who will keep complaining until they have...

Re: State of SD?

I've seen comments in the open source emulation community such as "when is the damn update coming", "your emulator doesn't work for sh#t", "this emulator is better than yours" etc... causing the developers to stop development because more people were complaining than thanking them. This was a gradua...

Re: State of SD?

I thought I was helping SD. My mistake. I have seen dozens of open-source and non-profit projects stopped because of critical opinions. Seen many ended when the people involved had enough being crapped on. I still think this will get out of hand if SD is not careful because SD is only 6 mo old. Havi...

Re: State of SD?

I will keep my opinions to myself to risk doing the same thing they are doing. Don't be surprised if the complaints get out of hand. By the way I am not alone in finding this kind of thing out of line. I was defending and educating about non-profits and open source because I for one have seen many o...

Re: State of SD?

Regarding the price of the service....I don't think $20/year is too much to ask from people for this service. However I noticed in the newsletter that SD is considering making grants to other open source projects. This is very nice of them but it suggests that the $20/year is more than SD needs. Wh...
