Re: Will Comcast listings strip analog channels?

Well, it looks like Comcast has started scrambling the digital versions of the upper tier channels (32-71). The clear QAM channels which I could pick up last week are no longer tunable, by either my HDTV or MythTV tuner. I'll do a rescan just to be sure, but I am not optimistic. So my lineup situati...

Re: Will Comcast listings strip analog channels?

are there any clear QAM stations not in the analog lineup? Robert Interesting question. If you subscribe to Basic Cable, or if you get the introductory Digital lineup but you DON'T use a cable box, you'll find that when you scan for channels with your digital tuner about a dozen HD clear-QAM channe...

Re: Will Comcast listings strip analog channels?

OK . . . the dust has settled on ONE of the lineups: 97124 Beaverton, US Comcast Tualatin Valley Regional Cable This lineup no longer reflects Comcast's non-digital cable plan. Last Wednesday I scanned the analog range with both my HDTV and my DVR's analog card. Channels 32 - 71 are no longer there....

Re: Are there any plans to ever allow a hybrid lineup?

This issue is becoming more important as Comcast starts to replace "upper end" analog channels with clear QAM channels. My digital TV and a channel scan utility using my DVR's capture card can see these replacement digital channels, but the Myth TV channel grid gets confused because neither the digi...

Re: Mythfilldatabase Connection Refused

"Connection refused" sounds more like a networking issue, or a problem with the SD server, rather than a subscription or permissions error. I updated successfully a few times yesterday (doing --refresh_all after some channel config issues) so I suspect the problem isn't on their end. Can you myth bo...

New lineups for new qam-addressable Comcast channels?

Comcast is starting to drop its Standard Cable plan in many areas. The conversion entails replacing the upper-range analog channels with digital equivalents. Subscribers will get an STB and a couple of simple "DTAs" so their analog TVs won't be useless. I've learned that these new channels will be c...

Re: Comcast's digital switchover; some good news?

Update: I compared the channel names on the Comcast digital SD listings to the listings of the new QAM channels as noted on silicon dust. The names are the same. However, while I have the digital lineup in my SD account Myth didn't associate the new channels with the digital equivalent. So I'll need...

Comcast's digital switchover; some good news?

Long story short: In many markets Comcast is doing away with "Standard" cable. (Sometimes known as Basic Extended.) This is the analog service that offers non-premium channels, such as ESPN, CNN, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, etc. (This is NOT Basic Cable, the regulated service offering channels ...

Re: How do I update when a station changes frequencies?

I'm in the same fix. This has happened in the past. I've had to rescan when Comcast rearranges things. The scan will find 2_1, 6_1, 8_2, 8_1, etc., but these won't be tied into any listings. What I do is find the ID of the channel from the appropriate Schedules Direct page, then use the MythTV chann...
