Multiple lineups multiple runs?

Postby dheianevans » Sun May 22, 2016 12:09 pm

Writing here to clarify a suggestion made on the MythTV list.

currently have an OTA source for North America and a few HLS sources for 2 North America hi n HLS channels and one UK HLS channel. Currently handled with one SD-DD run with three lineups and one Atlas run.

It was suggested that if I switch to getting both the NA and UK listings from SD, I would have to do a grabber run for each lineup and MythTV source.

I wondered if that would cause unnecessary load on the SD server. Is it possible to grab both the NA and UK lineups in one run?

The JSON service is structured around stationIDs. So for example, if you have "WABC-DT" available over the air and on your cable system, you'd only request the schedule once, because it's going to be the same for both transmission mechanisms.

So, you'd add the UK lineup and your US lineups to the JSON service. It's then up to the grabber to request the stationIDs. Whether that's done as one request or two is up to you and the grabber author.
