I want episode numbers

Post by lindau » Sat May 30, 2009 9:11 am

I use XMLTV.

I see that <episode-num system="onscreen">###</episode-num> is in provider.xml which is created by running:

@echo off
echo Creating PTVBrowser Files
cd C:\palm\Add-on\TV-Browser-SD
xmltv tv_grab_na_dd --days 14 --output provider.xml
ptvmanager -console:log.txt -transfer all
echo done

The episode numbers are not included the the final output.

Is there any way I can get them?

Let me rephrase your question to see if I understand you correctly.

You would like Pocket TV Browser (which ptvmanager is part of) to display episode numbers.

It seems this is a PTVB feature request, not a Schedules Direct request. Have you tried contacting the PTVB developers on their forum or mailing list?

I suggest trying TVTweak. It is no longer supported, but the last usable version is still available online at
http://feebdack.com/tvtweak.aspx . It's not perfect, but it may help you.

Type carefully; that's 'feebdack' not 'feedback'.

Thank you.

Where and how would I edit my batch file to use TVTweak?

@echo off
echo Creating PTVBrowser Files
cd C:\palm\Add-on\TV-Browser-SD
xmltv tv_grab_na_dd --days 14 --output provider.xml
ptvmanager -console:log.txt -transfer all
echo done

Right now, it's running TVTweak, but the output doesn't have any of the additional info.

After XMLTV and before PTVMANAGER, put in a line something like this:

TVTweak.exe +c +m -r +d +e -v auto provider.xml +log"TVTweak.log"

See the TVTweak documentation (README.TXT) for explanation of the switches.

I wonder why no one asked me for a switch on tv_grab_na_dd.... that would have been easier than creating TVTweak. Oh well, TVTweak is done..

OK, I want a switch on tv_grab_na_dd. Can you do that?

<credits<presenter> is changed to <credits><actor> with "(pre) added to the actor name"
<credits<director> is changed to <credits><actor> with "(dir) added to the actor name"
"rating" is appended to the description and subtitle.
"onscreen" value plus EP# is added to the subtitle.

On second thought, these changes do seem to be pretty much PTVB only, so it's probably better to have it as a separate tool. What do others think? Anyone else can use the changes?
