Series in genre?

Series in genre?

Postby spinnaker » Thu Jul 14, 2016 6:48 pm

Any chance we will ever get "series" in the genre? NextPVR can search by "category" which searches the genre field. It would be nice to find all series showings. Movies does seem to work as a category / genre.

Sorry if question has been asked before. ;)

Sorry, I think we need some more details.

If you're using the native JSON grabber in NextPVR, and there are details missing in the UI, if you can let us know what specifically is missing based on the stationID, time/date, programID, then we can pull the source data and determine if the issue is at our side or in your application.

I just moved to NextPVR from WMC. WMC had a feature to search on both "movies" and "series". NextPVR has a guide plugin that allows you to search on "category". One of the categories is "movie". I did my search and it found nothing. It was explained to me that since I was using the WMC EPG, I might not have the movie genre populated. Sure enough it was not listed in the description.

I switched to SD and the movie genre showed in the description of a movie listing. I did my search and all movies came up just like I wanted. I then thought to search on "series" but nothing came up. A checked a listed for what should be a series but it was not listed in the genre.

So I am guessing in order for NextPVR to find a series category, it needs to be listed in the genre?

Do you mean that you'd say "Show me what series' there are in the genre 'Science Fiction'" and you'd get back a list of "The Expanse", "Stargate SG-1", etc?

If yes, then we already have that in the data; NextPVR may not have a UI for it. Take a look at the genres:

Thanks.

I see that "series" is included in showtype. I will make a suggestion in the nextpvr forum that they search on showtype too. Any idea what the values of this field would be?
