New program listed as a repeat

Post by shrink » Mon Nov 12, 2007 6:21 pm

Curious. It seems that every week, "Dancing with the Stars" is listed as a repeat. It's not.
Why is this? I'm using PTVB with a Palm TX

The raw data doesn't flag shows as repeats, it flags them (sometimes, not always) as new.

For some reason, Dancing with the Stars doesn't have a "new" flag.

Applications that flag repeats, should make the determination using the "originalAirDate" (which is placed in previously-shown in XMLTV data).

For TV_CHECK, I use the following logic. (it uses XMLTV, so <previously-shown> is really used instead of OriginalAirDate).

1. delete OriginalAirDate if OriginalAirDate exists and is less than two weeks ago.
2. flag as repeat if OriginalAirDate exists.

IIRC PTVB uses XMLTV and is abandoned (no code changes). If there is interest, I can add a "--repeat x" option to XMLTV/tv_grab_na_dd that would delete the OriginalAirDate information if it is within x days.

OK Thanks Robert. I understand. I really don't think it's worth your valuable time to fix this, but at least I now know why its happening.
