Unable to retrieve schedule and channels

Post by cbradlea » Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:02 am

Hi all;

I could really use some help here and reading the forums so can a lot of people having the same issue.

My source is set and retrieves the correct postal code back and area provider.
My video works and I can cat /etc/v4l/video0 > test.mpeg and then watch at tv I recorded.

But in the channel editor there is no channels even after running mythfilldatabase -do-channel-updates

here is what I see.

Thanks in advance for anyhelp.
Chris

2007-10-04 09:34:38.042 DB Error (Fixing program ids in oldrecorded):
The error message following "DB Error..." is missing from this cut-n-paste. But it does indicate that something is wrong with the database. You will get a lot more help asking this in the MythTV user's mailing list where some people may have had the same problem already and fixed it. There appears to be no problem with the listings download from Schedules Direct, but there is some problem with your database.

As mentioned, there were a few incorrectly shut records that give the DB error but running
mysqlcheck --auto-repair -u mythtv -p mythconverg fixs that but it makes no difference, here is the mythfilldatabase
without the error and still nothing, this seems to be a schedule direct issue but am asking in other forums too.

No one can answer this issue, if you notice on this support page alone there are at least 4 people in the last few days that have opened the same discussion and lots of people have replied to there post saying they are having the same issue. Not one has a resolution yet.

Thanks pljvaldez at linuxquestions.org

You pointed me to the right direction with Input Connections in mythtv-setup. I did notice that they all read none. Changing it to schedule direct fixed the issue.

[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Tuner 1) > none
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-1) > none
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-2) > none
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-1) > none
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-2) > none
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-3) > none

Open each of the enteries and change them to now read
VIDEO SOURCE = scheduledirect-src or what ever you name your source.

[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Tuner 1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-2) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-2) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-3) > scheduledirect-src

Now run mythfilldatabase --do-channel-updates

Hopefully this will fix you Problem like it did mine. I hope it helps someone else as I noticed a ton of people are asking the same question.

Cheers all

Re: Unable to retrieve schedule and channels

Code: Select all

[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Tuner 1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (S-Video-2) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-1) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-2) > scheduledirect-src
[MPEG: /dev/v4l/video0] (Composite-3) > scheduledirect-src
You should probably only have one of those connected to that "Video Source", probably only "Tuner 1" if you are using the internal tuner, or one of the other ones if you are using LIRC to change channels on an STB, such as for DirectTV, Dish Network or Digital Cable with an analog card.
