Re: mythfilldatabase running for 2.5 hours, new install

EDIT: mount /tmp with tempfs - I found this made a lot of difference with fedora 17 (Dec12). Then... tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev, nosuid 0 0 try mounting /var EXT3 with the guard time disabled. Here's my fstab: \ LABEL=var /var ext3 defaults, noatime, nodiratime, nobarrier 1 2 You could limit the risk by jus...

Re: Is there an EPG designed for DVR?

Semantics aside (Electronic Program Guide is a general type, Lister is a more concrete type), I think perhaps the lack of response is that the idea was confusing. If nobody had already replied I'd have stopped at about the 60% point in your OP. As I see it the Guide is only part of the system. There...

Re: Need help selecting an approved application

Hi Robert, thanks for the corrections! ...differs from most other XML-based TV listings formats in that it is written from the user's point of view, rather that the broadcaster's. I was down-playing the standardized XMLTV Format in favor of its basic XML nature thinking the OP might have quite diffe...

Re: Need help selecting an approved application

The SchedulesDirect listings could not be made available on iTunes due to the licensing from the source (Tribune Media Services) and I'm not sure where that would fit with your need. xmltv isn't really a format though it does massage the data into XML so that any user can expect mostly the same fiel...

Re: Need help selecting an approved application

Freeguide-TV is multi-platform and allows you to search descriptions and/or titles , as well as some other filters like case sensitivity so it might work for you. You'll need the full java stack so the laptop should be no problem but I don't think it would run on IOS. There are several exporters but...

Re: Advertising to Help Offset Costs ??

Data is valuable, this data, from a significant percentage of a highly sought demographic makes this data more so.. I truely believe this could fund SD all by itself I'm thinking this is the wrong board for this, and the wrong thread, since you're idea isn't advertising, it's arbitrage of the cumul...

Re: In Response to the Newsletter

MrMarkH- well said! Regarding the choice of F/OSS projects that might be helped and Donovan's charge of nepotism- Fact is even in the very worst case, sitll, there results open source code. I don't think that *can* be a bad thing. ;) Do recipients also need to qualify as charitable? Regarding the fe...

Re: State of SD?

I think operating a booth at F/OSS conferences and such is a great idea. I think SWAG (whatever happened to that?) is also, as having the physical object as a conversation-starter surely works FOR our interests - and we get to *pay* for them too ;) Contributing to core OSS projects like MythTV, IVTV...

Re: just looking for a app to run and do searches on my computer

I'd like to elaborate a little on what Robert said, but first, thanks for the note about Freeguide working for you. But apparantly it didn't do what you want so I invite you to email me or post what exactly the failing was. If it's about configuration then this might help. You stated you wished for ...
